Sat is the leader behind Cleerly’s mission. Following a stint in contracting, Sat founded the largest freelancer mortgage broker in 2006, making him a pioneer in serving independent professionals with mortgage needs. Bringing on board major high street lenders, his refusal to accept ‘no’ to fair lending options led to the many mortgages that professionals can choose from today. Sat’s key traits are leadership, negotiation and strategy. Despite his profile in the industry, at weekends Sat is a taxi service for his two teenagers’ various sports commitments.

Olivia Harland
Olivia is a qualified Senior Mortgage Consultant who has worked with major players like Lloyds and Countrywide early in her career, before becoming a contractor specialist around 10 years ago. This makes Olivia one of the most experienced mortgage specialists at Cleerly. Olivia sees her key strengths as solving complex problems, negotiation with lenders and relationship management. In her spare time, she likes to walk around the Hampshire countryside with her energetic Rottweiler Dorothy, and fine dining when she has a dog-sitter.

Associate Director - Mortgages
William Coe
Will has been qualified in mortgages for five years, starting his career at Countrywide before joining the Cleerly team three years ago. Since becoming a specialist mortgage broker, Will has rapidly become the go-to adviser in the office for technical queries. He is adept at data analysis, public presenting and finding solutions to complex problems. Will is the most musical member of the office, playing the tuba in competition brass bands, as well as being proficient in a number of different musical instruments.

Steven Clements
Steve was the most experienced consultant at Cleerly, boasting an impressive 20+ years in the specialist mortgage advice sector, before moving into management. He has mainly served contractors during that time, and was instrumental in the development of the flexible contractor lending criteria that is available today. Steve has built his career on understanding his clients’ needs, before delivering a first-class service in meeting those needs. He is therefore very well placed to share his knowledge of compliant advice with the Cleerly team. When he isn't obsessing over clients and team, Steve is an avid golfer ever since he was asked nicely by his wife to give up cricket to spend more time at home.

Simon James
Simon has an impressive CV in financial services, with over 20 years’ experience with some household names. He started out advising on mortgages for Nationwide Building Society, became a protection expert for Aviva, before finding his niche in specialist advice around 10 years ago. Simon leads the mortgage and protection operation at Cleerly's Head Office. He also advises Cleerly clients on mortgage and protection needs, with expertise in solutions that work alongside non-standard incomes. Simon’s key strengths are strong leadership, presenting, and excellent communication. If that wasn’t enough, he’s also a supremely skilled guitarist, boasting a large guitar collection which is growing steadily.

Matthew Long
Matt has worked in a variety of mortgage roles that have given him an encyclopaedic knowledge of how to obtain a mortgage. Starting in underwriting, then becoming an adviser himself; Matt has been a specialist mortgage consultant for 10 years. The reason for Matt’s longevity in mortgages is his attention to detail, client service skills, alongside negotiation skills – especially with mortgage underwriters. Outside of work, Matt likes being outside. He is a keen runner when he’s not being given the run-around by his two children.

Dil Digpal
Dil is one of the rising stars at Cleerly, having joined in 2023 following a very successful start in mortgage advice at Nationwide Building Society. With a background in business analysis and training before that, Dil brings all of the right attributes to be a successful specialist adviser at Cleerly. He has a keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills and excellent communication - especially when presenting. He also has a flair for the creative, having co-authored a book and written several screenplays.

Lewis Channer
Lewis was a key part of Cleerly’s Client Services team, until he recently joined the advice team. He joined Cleerly in 2023 from another broker firm where he wanted to become a mortgage adviser. When that firm did not follow through, Lewis funded and passed his mortgage qualifications himself, impressing the Cleerly team with his drive and determination, joining as Senior Client Services Manager. It did not take too long before he was promoted to Senior Mortgage Consultant. Lewis is an expert in client service, relationship building and attention to detail. He is also the muscle in the team, holding a black-belt in karate and doing powerlifting in his spare time.

Hannah Prowting
Hannah joined the Cleerly team in 2023 from another specialist broker. Prior to that she was working in property services, which caused her take a look at a role in mortgages. As Senior Case Manager she frequently has to negotiate with lenders and update clients who are under time pressures. Her focus at Cleerly has been on calm communication, process improvement, and attention to detail. Hannah has recently got the travelling bug, visiting Indonesia. In addition to tackling mountains of work, mountain hiking in Wales is next on the list.

Jenny Gordon
Jenny has held a number of key management roles in financial services over 20 years before joining Cleerly. The last three years of those have been centred around independent professionals. At Cleerly, her mission is to help grow partnerships with firms who are similarly client-focused. Jenny’s key attributes are relationship management, public presentation and strategy. When she is not speaking with our partners, Jenny has her head deep in psychology, which is the degree subject she is studying in her spare time.

Senior Client Services Manager
Edward Hughes
Ed is a new addition to the Cleerly Client Services team, bringing a wealth of experience from all things service. He has worked in financial services for 15 years for Virgin Money, one of the most recognisable brands in financial services. In his time there he managed customer service teams and branches, with overall responsibility for referring customers to mortgage and insurance advisers. Most of Ed’s non-working hours are spent ‘baby-sitting’ his 14-month-old daughter, despite being told it doesn’t count as baby-sitting when you’re the parent. Away from childcare, Ed loves running whether it’s training for a marathon or up and down a football pitch.

Gigi Kaur
Gigi is the new member of Cleerly’s Client Services team, supporting professional clients with their applications. Before Cleerly, Gigi graduated with a BA (Hons) in Accounting & Finance. She then deployed these skills in industry, latterly in financial services, which led her to a keen interest in mortgages. Gigi’s strengths are an excellent grasp of numbers and attention to detail, skills which are going to be used in her mortgage career – she has just started her mortgage qualifications and plans to be a Mortgage Consultant. Gigi is the most photogenic in the team, having competed for Miss England, and reaching the semi-finals!

Taj Kang
Business Consultant
Taj is an adviser to the business, ensuring Cleerly staff know the high standards demanded of them by the FCA and Cleerly’s own internal rules. Taj is a qualified mortgage adviser too, working in the sector for over two decades, with 13 years of this spent working with contractor and freelancer clients. He is a stickler for detail, is passionate about processes, and tends to have multiple projects on the go. When he’s not examining rules, he likes to lay down the law in under-15s football as referee or linesman.
